Laura Heaton joined StatisticaMedica as a Junior Biostatistician in 2022 and has progressed to a Senior Biostatistician role. Laura has a Master’s in Statistics from University College Dublin, Ireland and a Degree in Mathematicsfrom Trinity College Dublin. Laura has completed an accredited level of training in CDISC (SDTM andADaM) and SAS programming standards in addition to ongoing GCP certification since joining StatisticaMedica.
Laura is the lead biostatistician for assigned projects at StatisticaMedica, coordinating biostatistical activities internally and liaising with client counterparts regarding the ongoing status and delivery of projects. Her study responsibilities involve the programming and validation of analysis datasets, including CDISC (SDTM and ADaM); statistical outputs (e.g., tables, figures and listings); interim analysis programming; power analyses; preparation, review and validation of randomisation lists; subjects evaluability analysis; writing or reviewing standard operating procedures; creating document templates, and data storage and archiving. In addition, Laura reviews and provides input into study design, sample size calculations, statistical analysis plans, statistical management plans and the statistical section of study protocols. She also supervises a range of projects and conducts peer review of documents, hands-on review of statistical output and data quality control activities as well as providing guidance to the junior team. Laura uses her considerable project management experience gained at StatisticaMedica to ensure the efficient progress and high quality of projects. Laura’s professional growth at StatisticaMedica has been paralleled by an increase in client-facing responsibilities, including client liaison, leading client meetings and taking meeting minutes. She supports the Biostatistics & Programming Lead with audit and business development activities, attends international conferences and is instrumental in the development of a range of documents, including statistical reports, white papers and manuscripts.
